Saw Johnny Magnum play on Friday, 7/2/10
@ Paradise Island! What a talented musician! Great musician who loves playing the drums and continues to be available if needed. Johnny entertains the crowd, with his physical gestures, twirling sticks, and overall smooth rythem. He gets into his music and plays in his zone! Thanks for being so talented & making it a '' rockin night ''. Buffalo loves YA !!! Keep on rockin!!! |

They pulled it off with a different drummer...can't believe they could do that in short notice...that's a tough thing to do...but they still did it???

You guys were great at Nolas on Saturday, but you got cut off too early. And you need to learn Smokin in the boys room, which until I talked to the singer was not aware that it was not originally done by Motley Crue, who knew:)But you blew me away a couple of months ago when I 1st saw you, it was like paying $7 to see 30 different bands, incredible, and you could so charge more! Can't wait until july 24th:)

Wow, what a voice...who was that blondie who belted out a Led-Zeppelin song. If you didn't look close and only listened, you would have swarn it was a young Robert Plant, Holy crap. What talent and added potential. Look out, I see an 80's Pat Benatar coming...

There are guitarists (not artists)of 3 category. Those that play the Limited basics (myself), those who play Exact, and those who play Better than Exact. Guess which league these guys are in? You guessed it - they can do better than the original artist. That means playing the harder notes, chords, or scale on top of the original. Liberace, Mozart, Ritchie Blackmore, SRV, Yngwie Malmsteen - these people played the originals and added above the bar. That's what the guitarist in the 80's hair band does. I saw the 80's hair band last Saturday. No way anyone can copy Jay, I am convinced of it. Throwing extremely difficult extra's during the exact time of playing the original is his signature. I would hate to see what would happen if this band pairs up with a major recording label...good bye Buffalo.....see them while you can....

For anybody who doesn't know already, Joe the bass player is the friendliest of the bunch - he'll actually talk with you :)
Although he looks like maybe 16, he's been around since....snakebit...lol(sorry Joe, people need to know your older than 16). Again, like the dude below me said"don't let looks fool you"...these guys are hard working professionals who make it look easy. Stop in and say hello to Joe and the band, you'll be glad you did :) |

Got the Mesa Triple-check. Got the premium Boss pedals-check. Bought the Celestion speaker cabinet-check, detuned guitars for harmonic "squealie's with heavy strings-check...able to play 12 harmonic notes in one second...WHAT? Ah, no-SORRY, no can do-that's called talent - can't buy that. Ever try reproducing 12 correctly pitched notes per one second over 6 frets? (Yes, I counted the notes per second he played - all correctly in tune). Look, this ain't no "regurgitation band" that copies shredder tabs off "YouTube" - that's easy teenage "dime a dozen" stuff. These guys are one word-TALENT..don't miss the opportunity to see them. |

Another good show. These guys are amazing, they just don't slip up. Never seen such unit where the bass player keeps in perfect timing with the drummer; I mean perfect (Rob just doesn't let them slip...dam perfectionist...lol). This band has matured into a diversity of many tonal keys. Every appearance marks a refreshing surprise. I'm impressed with the diversity and talent there - look past the hair and you will find a musical education matched by very few. Thanks again for the show, it's always a pleasure to see you guys...John.

How did he do that? Played a set of back in black in drop down D with a Wha-waa AND STILL MADE IT SOUND GREAT! Talk about super transposing..No one can pull that off and make it sound great..WTF Jay. I dare anybody to try to do that using that combo (you better know what fret to jump to). Any one can play an original songs based in 440 pitch, but not in drop C, and make it sound better. People this is called talent, and he's got it. See it while u still can.

Dam Jay, what's next? Gentaro Satomura Storm Rider Stuff...appeggio from Hell? Anything you can't play...lol. Ok, I want that tone dammit...can't get it with a JCM 100 Marshall, re-wired Carvin X-100, Randall, Line 6, or whatever! Could be the guitar wiring Rob does...ancient Chinese secret...lol. And only 2 speaker cab direct...come on! Detunes, step downs, open G...nothing works...errrr!Ok that's it, gotta see the show, that's all there is to it! PEOPLE, if u want to see talent, it's there (no one else can sneak in an ad-lib with the regular notes, adding spice and making it sound great - how does he do that?). Hey, playing exact notes like a robot is boring...rock on dudes!
